Extra-slim foam pads have little 'give' in them, allowing more pressure to be transmitted during polishing. They also work hotter than pads with a larger internal volume, which can also increase cutting ability. This makes them perfect for use as compounding, or heavy cut, foam pads.
If you've worked your way through softer, lower cut pads and polishes and now need even more aggression, reach for the Slim Reaper and let it scythe through the paint - assuming you're using a suitable polish and machine polishing techniques. (If not, all you could be doing is tickling your paint and murdering the pad or your machine polisher).
And whilst you can use the Slim Reaper with both orbital and rotary machine polishers, we'd always suggest trying the Fibre Scyther microfibre pad if you have an orbital machine in the first instance. This is because microfibre pads work cooler than foam and can often generate the same level of cut as aggressive foams but with far less heat (and therefore far less risk to pads and machine from heat build-up).
Suits 120mm-130mm (5 inch) backing plates, with a small overhang (to keep the backing plate edge away from paintwork during polishing). This overhang is smaller than usual to give more support to the pad, so be careful if angling a rotary or if new to machine polishing. Hook and loop velcro backing.
As ever, always run pads with suitable polishes/compounds; never overwork them by running them too dry, too long or with a polish doing too much or too little work.
Please note that pads should never be run at excessive temperatures (either panel or machine temps), they should always be stopped/started on the panel if an orbital is used to avoid undue stress, and they should always be removed gently from the backing plate and washed carefully with mild detergent (NEVER left to soak). Failure to do so may cause premature delamination of the hook and loop backing from the pad.
To maintain, simply massage neat washing up liquid into the foam pad cutting face under a running tap, then rinse thoroughly and allow to air dry.
